The following is a listing of all training activities provided through the MCCMH Training Department and some selected vendors. Opportunities are available to employees of a directly operated MCCMH service department, MCCMH administrative staff, or, as applicable, employees of a contracted provider that delivers direct services to individuals served by MCCMH.

Please review the flyers for more information, including whether continuing education credits or additional units are available.

DECA Training InformationPlease visit the link for DECA training information approved by MDHHS and MCCMH. This is not hosted by the MCCMH Training Office.

DECA is required by MDHHS to be completed on youth ages 0-6.

LOCUS Initial TrainingThis training will provide a comprehensive overview of the LOCUS and provide participants the opportunity to practice the tool on vignettes and apply it to specific MCCMH services. Recipient Rights TrainingThe Recipient Rights Training is a 3-hour IN-PERSON training. This training is FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. Registrations will not be accepted.

ALERT: ONLY DIRECT AND CCBHC DCO PROVIDERS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE ORR TRAINING: WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE AND ANNUALLY THEREAFTER

For all other non-DCO, and other contract providers, the ORR face to face training is required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.

Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Final Rule TrainingThis training will review Modules 2 & 3 of the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Final Rule. The training will go into detail regarding the Final Rule and Case Manager involvement. This training is a new requirement directed from the Department of Michigan Health and Human Services. Per MCCMH MCO Policies 3-015 and 10-007, this training is required for all clinical staff functioning as the Primary Case Holder including Case Managers, Support Coordinators and Clinical Supervisors.Training FlyerClick to Register
Module One: Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Final Rule (For non-Brainier enrolled providers only) This PowerPoint will review Module 1 of the HCBS training requirement. It will present the history, intent, and implementation of HCBS in Michigan. Participants will become familiar with Michigan’s Medicaid waiver programs that support HCBS and understand the intent of the HCBS Final Rule Set and the Person-Centered Planning (PCP) process. This PowerPoint and Attestation sheet are ONLY for providers who are not enrolled in the Brainier LMS. Attestations are to be kept by providers for auditing purposes. Mental Health First AidMental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.

Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk (AMSR) TrainingThe goal of this course is to teach clinicians and healthcare professionals who conduct suicide risk assessments how to determine the level of suicide risk for an individual. AMSR Training provides a structure for the clinical provider which can be used in the development of a collaborative treatment and safety plan. AMSR’s formulation model helps health professionals feel confident navigating challenging conversations and offers key strategies for providing compassionate care to people at risk for suicide.

Elder Care: Aging in America
This training provides information for case managers and therapists to recognize when our elders need specialized care and how to properly refer and link to medically necessary services. This training includes ways to improve quality of life for elders and encourages their connection to natural support, with an emphasis on children and adolescents. Attendees will apply new knowledge to writing an integrated care plan for the elderly population.

Behavior Treatment Plans: Policy, Process, and PresentationThe course will cover basics on writing functional behavior assessments and treatment plans. Restrictive and intrusive techniques will be defined and expectations of case presentation and documentation protocols.

Addiction and the BrainAddiction and The Brain is a 2-hour long virtual training designed specifically for employees who work for MCCMH/MCOSA funded agencies. Participants will learn about the role that brain chemistry plays in the development of cravings and addiction, how the use of drugs impacts teen brain development, and what local resources are available to support people with substance use disorders. Participants will also learn how to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses, including how to use Narcan. Participants who complete this course will receive access to free Narcan kits.

Grieving and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and PracticesThis course covers a detailed account of differences in types of grieving including cultural and complex aspects. This course covers history of grief treatment, DSM-5-definition of grieving and complex grieving, and effects of grieving on the brain.
